Why bother to go for a free hosting when you can get for as low as 3-4 $ per month a paid hosting, therefore having more opportunities and facilities. It does not matter whether your site produce any income or not, i think anyone can afford to pay 4 $ per month to keep a project alive.

I totally agree with you. You can get a good webhosting for about 3-4 bucks a month. Free webhosting is a solutions for people that want to try and test out things. If you're not sure you want to make something big, or your not sure on anything, than free hosting may be a good starter.

If someone want's to learn webprogramming, they better start with a free host instead of a paid hosting.

wel i am using 110mb.com and some other hostings for free but i think i have to find reliable hosting, i have seen many free hosting sites but they have very few features, and most of them are not supporting sendmail feature.
