I have a question regarding the choice of using a 301 or 302 redirect.

and wonder if this is valid?
We had to use a new domain name last year, and as a quick-shot we kept the old domain name and just used the same ip address for both domains, which isn't the best thing to do in terms of Search Engine Optimization.
So, we decided to install a redirect in order to redirect the old domain to the new domain.

Therefore I wonder if ye would recommend the described technique?

from what i understood and read so far , the 301 redirect is the best .. i can not give you more details as this is the only thing i know , that the 301 is prefered
