Office, and factory type of businesses would have meetings I guess. However Internet business where you may not actually know staff in person is harder. However there are many ways to communicate safely online.

For Internet businesses. I have been using forums. That are private for the staff members only. That way you can communicate a lot easier with everyone.

I am with you on this. I find it so easy to use forums to communicate. You can also store information and other important notes there. Also with the permissions you have control on who sees what.

I have so far tried MSN, AIM, and Forum Systems to communicate with staff members. As my businesses apply online. Not the best ways of communication really.
