Can someone explain to me in some detail what exactly a backlink is please.

back link the link made on article on blogs that transfers to your website domain name. it the simple href link made beside one specific keyword. thats all. its not that big thing. backlinks are like - click here - if you click on that click here, you will go to another website. so thats called backlink. i hope you understood.

actually linking your website with other websites makes good for google to get the actial thread with right keyword. they searches the links. they shows your web to their search engines too.

I guess you have already understood what a back link is , but you should realize that some back links are extremely effective while some of them are only crap. Pay attention to the anchor text used as well as the page rank of the website before purchasing one.
