Default Google AdSense Tutorial

I've posted a great google adsense tutorial, please check it out and tell me what you think:

Quote:
Hi,

I've just wrote a short tutorial on how to start up your own google adsence and start generating a bit of cash from them, for helping out with everyday spending.

First Step:

First thing to do is to register a new account with google adsence, go to url below:

URL: https://www.google.com/adsense/g-app-single-1

Follow the instructions to register your site.

Second Step:

Creating your ads is the next step, this is easily done with google help.
Start off by clicking the AdSence Setup tab in your adsence control panel when you login:

http://www.hosterhome.com/images/ads.../setup_tab.gif

Next step is to choose the type of ads you would like to set up, but in this tutorial we are going to choose Adsence for Content, so click the link to proceed:

http://www.hosterhome.com/images/ads...tent_click.gif

Then we are taken to a page where you choose the type of ad unit you would like, you get a choice from:

- Image and text ads
- Text ads only
- Image ads only

I would recommend to use image and text ads, because everyone likes images as they are easier understood and like everyone says; "A picture tells a thousand words".

When you choisen your ad unit type select continue:

http://www.hosterhome.com/images/ads...inue_click.gif

This will take us to the ad unit formating, here you can select the size and colors of your ads.

Note: I would recommend using colors that would match your site colors, so they blend it and look pretty. Here is an example of an embeded ad, taken from a random site:

http://www.hosterhome.com/images/ads...example_ad.gif

Play around with the colors until you have choisen, the colors that would match.

Next we want to select the size and shape of the ad unit that would be placed on your site. Now these are totally up to you, for example if you want a small advert to place on top of your site, then you would use the Horizontal 468px by 60px, these work by width(468px) and height(60px).
On the other hand if you would like an advert to place on the side of your site, I would recommend something bigger which is a vertical Skyscraper (120x600).
But in the end the choice is yours and play around with the types of sizes and shapes to fit your site best.

I would recommend looking at the ad size previews shown here:

URL: https://www.google.com/adsense/adformats

When you finished editing your ad sizes and colors, click continue:

http://www.hosterhome.com/images/ads...nue_click2.gif

We next arrive onto the channel selection, this is mainly used when you have created more than one advert for your site and would like to generate different reports for each advert to see and compare what advert style does best and gets the most clicks.
We are going to leave that for this tutorial, you will have to play that around yourself, when you get a bit more familiar with the advert system.

Click continue and you would arrive at the last stage where you see the code being generated to be placed on your site:

http://www.hosterhome.com/images/ads...al/ad_code.gif

Copy this code and place it on your site, this is for you to deside where.

Third Step:

Watch your money roll in

This can be done by viewing the reports which are generated for you hourly by google.
Click on the Reports tab:

http://www.hosterhome.com/images/ads...report_tab.gif

Here a nice report is set up for you to watch the amount of Page impressions and Clicks.

Report definitions:

- Page impressions - The amount of unit hits on the adverts
- Clicks - The amount of clicks on your adverts
- Page CTR - Percentage of people that click on your adverts
- Page eCPM - Google's estimated income for every 1000 page impressions
- Earnings - How you have earned

Well thats the end of the tutorial and hope you enjoyed it and it helped you set up your first google adverts and i hope you see income as soon as you set them up.

There will be more tutorials posted on how to improvise your adverts and earn more!!!

Enjoy!
Enjoy

Sounds good. But what part of adsense do you need a tutorial for? I think everything is on Google Adsense site.

Very helpfull article you got there. I agree with all of the things there. I see that the web is full of these adSense tutorials. Most of them are just crap, but this one is really short, usefull and correct.

I did the same things when I signed up for adSense. It took some time tough, because google didn't want to accept my site... But that's another story.
