I do not think that pop ups is a good way to make money as it seems that it annoys a lot of users.
People will only go away from your site.

Popups could make your visitors run away. You get paid very less for popups and now almost 90% of users have popup blockers so you get paid very less. I suggest you to try CPM banners instead of popups.

POPUPS are useless and generate a negligible traffic. Most users use pop up blockers and so, they dont view your site or if it opens up. At least, I do close that window immediately

Netizens are getting smarter with every click. There are new softwares to support them. Banners are still effective though.

Pop ups are a good way to get some revenue.
It's just intrusive and you risk losing users.

Popups (or popunders) are still very effective for porn/gambling sites.

I know people hate them, but in those 2 specific industries - they work.
