I've noticed a growing demand for sitewide link exchanges.

While I certainly wouldn't complain if someone offered me a sitewide link, I do wonder about the worth of them, and also about the wisdom of filling your entire site with a bunch of links across the bottom of every single page.

Surely this a)looks bad, and b)devalues the worth of those outgoing links?

Considering 100 links from 1 domain probably isn't worth as much as the equivalent number of links from different domains, aren't links pages links just as good really?

It doesnt really matter if its site wide or just the home page. They still count as backlinks but sitewide usually gets you more traffic than ranking. Thats all about it.

hmm...good point....if you have a common layout for all the pages then put it on that....then you wont have to put it on all the pages..

Google does not like sitewide links as these type of links are most likely paid.
