Default forum and website

What do you think will be more helpful:a forum alone or a forum which is part of a website?
Which will be easier to market?

It all depends on what the focus is. I like forums alone but as I said it all depends on what your site is focused on.

It depends on what kind of site you have, if its a service that need your visitors to react then better have a forum.

I think that it will be better to have a site and a forum because of the search engines.
It is always useful to feel the spiders with some static content.

What is really a static content? i don't quite get it. I would go for just having a site without a forum.

I think a forum alone would be best to be honest, if you really need a homepage you could always use a portal for the forum.

It's nice to combine your forum and main site. The latter should take care more of the "serious" topics while the former can serve as the free wheeling portion of your site where members can freely interact about your site's niche.

I think a website needs to have its own community and a forum will definitely provide just that.
