Do you think it is possible to promote a website completely for free ? Some of the free promotion method are forum signatures, email signatures, article submission, and submitting to directories and search engines.

Well, you kindof gave the answer in your post itself. I know for a fact, that viral advertising is all you need. If your site is that interesting, people will know about it... through others.

Of course it is possible. You should not underrate the good old snowball effect ( someone likes your site and sends links to friends and they keep on ) and the other free ways you mentioned. But there is no guarantee that it works out. But you don't have that guarantee when you pay for promotion, too.

It is possible and it's been done before time and time again. However, you have to work very hard and you have to be patient - you're not going to generate hundreds of backlinks and thousands of visitors overnight.

With link exchanges, signiture advertising, word of mouth advertising, links on your own personal sites or blogs and so forth, you can reach a limited audience and from then on you just have to pray for the snowball effect.

It's time consuming and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a serious site, but for younger guys on shoestring budgets, it needn't cost the earth and can be done to some extent for free with some intelligent Search Engine Optimization work and link building.

It's definately possible you just need to think about what could be the best ways to do it.

Don't go on a spamming spree or your site will get a bad reputation, just think of how/where you'll tell people about it, submit to directories etc

And the bit I find most important, don't give up. It's not gonna happen overnight just be patient

Yes it is possible, just be resourceful for your methods of promoting so you can get the best result as the paid one.

You can actually find other sources to fund your paid promotion. Try some freelancing jobs and use that money to pay for it, at least its not from your own.
