Do you have any sites that have no relation to the domain it's under?

I actually have quite a few. They're doing pretty well. I should probably stop doing that. I think I'll sell my irrelevant domains and start buying better ones.

When I dont find a relevant domain for a specific niche website, I go with brandable domain name which doesn't mean anything but sounds good. For example: If you don't find a good domain name for humor site, you can use the words like Brumpal etc.

Relevancy is so important because when a visitor come to your site he looks for what he saw at your domain name if he gets different things he will go out.Thats very simple.

Orkut is a good example of a successful site on an irrelevant domain.
