Why do you submit your sites into directories? For traffic or Page Ranking?

I do it for a backlink to help my Page Ranking and I've never met a directory that gave me good traffic.

I mainly use directories for page rank and search results. Only very targetted niche directories can provide any serious traffic.

I submit for traffic because if you get pagerank but no visitors nobody will buy any links.

Even when submitting for Page Ranking traffic is the end result that I think many people are looking for. PR helps with SERPS which help with traffic.

I submit for both rankings and traffic. Based from my experience, aside for backlinks, this can generate good traffic as well.

If those are the only choices and I will have to choose one, it would be rankings. This is because not many people use these directories thus they do not generate good traffic... IMO

The main reason behind directory submission is Page Rank. Getting traffic from a directory is only a dream. Even if you submit to best directories on the internet like Alive and Aviva, you won't get much traffic but they will help you getting a strong Page Ranking.

Directories are known for passing the Page Rank and hence , I submit to directories mainly for getting a strong backlink to help gain Page Ranking and for good result in SERPs . Directories are not known for traffic but if a directory can get you traffic then its an additional bonus afterall , its traffic which counts unless you are in link selling business .

Personally , I dont expect much / any traffic from directories so I submit to directories only for the PageRank and also for getting a backlink .
