I have realized that these days there has to be more than just a few powerful links to turn your site into an authority and have internal pages rank just by being created on your domain. You need to have deeplinks, have a structure that makes sense. Otherwise you will need a lot more links than you would if your site in itself was ready to be spidered efficiently.
